Boulevard One Grading to Begin

Boulevard One Grading to Begin
The Lowry Redevelopment Authority will start grading the Boulevard One site in late October to early November. Grading activities will focus on the new roads and lots in the first phase of residential development, south of First Avenue from Magnolia Street to Oneida Court. The work is scheduled to take two months.

• Approximately 130,000 cubic yards of soil will be graded and most stockpiled near the center of the Boulevard One site. The stockpiled soil will fill the hole left by the former Defense Finance and Accounting Service Center building.

• Five new streets will be graded that will connect to First Avenue in 2014: Magnolia Street, Niagara Street, Newport Street, Oneida Street and Oneida Court. The First Avenue berm will be removed to accommodate the new streets.

• Many existing trees will be preserved or transplanted in Boulevard One parks, tree lawns and along the south side of First Avenue. More than 2,500 new trees will be planted at Boulevard One.

• Approximately 80 lots for single family detached homes will be created.

Old tarmac and pavement is being recycled on site to make base for new roads.

Public Comments on boundaries for Lowry Elementary School building addition and increased enrollment
Location:  900 Grant Street ,  Denver, Co 80203  (please independently confirm this if you plan to go)
Board of Education will vote on the Staff Recommendations, which are:
1.      Provide a permanent, attractive expansion to Lowry Elementary School to accommodate additional students
2.      Expand Lowry’s boundary to include the Buckley Annex development and small portions of the Denver Green School boundary north of Alameda. (We expect the total increase to Lowry’s enrollment to be less than 100 students, and this increase would happen over time.  The boundary change would not affect any students currently enrolled in the Denver Green School.)

Lowry’s Got Talent

Can you juggle, do magic tricks, sing, jump rope, play an instrument? Then why not audition for the Lowry Talent Show? We also need student announcers, stage crew, and script writers for the Talent Show.

Auditions will be during lunch the week of October 7. If you are interested in auditioning please come to the auditorium before you have lunch on your assigned day. You will be given a pass for your audition.

The Lowry Talent Show will be limited to 20 acts. Acts will be judged on originality, creativity, talent, and preparedness.  All acts must be G rated and appropriate for an audience of ECE-fifth graders. All acts must be 2 minutes or less. Absolutely no lip-synching will be considered.

Unfortunately, not everyone who auditions will be asked to be in the Talent Show. We are really proud of everyone who auditions because that takes a lot of courage but it takes more than courage to be selected. Only those acts that demonstrate they are polished, creative, entertaining and unique through their audition will be chosen. All students who audition will get a letter to tell them if they made the show or not.

If you are chosen for the Talent Show you must be able to make the rehearsal on October 29 from 3:00-4:30. The Talent Show will be Thursday, October 31 at 8:45 and 10:15.
